ఆదిత్య హృదయ వైభవం
రామరావణ యుద్ధం జరుగుతోంది. గొప్ప తపశ్శక్తితో పరమశివుడి అనుగ్రహం పొందిన రావణుడు ధైర్యంగా శ్రీరాముణ్ని ఎదుర్కొంటున్నాడు. రావణుణ్ని ఎలా సంహరించడమా అని శ్రీరాముడు తీవ్రంగా యోచిస్తున్నాడు. ఈ యుద్ధాన్ని అంతరిక్షం నుంచి దేవతలు, గంధర్వులు, మహర్షులు మొదలైనవారంతా తిలకిస్తున్నారు. వారిలో అగస్త్య మహర్షి కూడా ఉన్నాడు. రావణుడి యుద్ధ తీవ్రత చూసి దిగులుతో ఉన్న శ్రీరాముడి సమీపానికి అగస్త్యుడు వచ్చి అతడి దైవత్వాన్ని గుర్తుచేసి ఆదిత్య హృదయ మంత్రం బోధిస్తాడు.
సూర్యుడికి గల విశేష నామాలు ఆదిత్య హృదయంలో ప్రస్తావితమయ్యాయి. ప్రాణికోటిని పూజించేవాడు గనుక "పూష". కిరణాలతో శోభిల్లేవాడు గనుక "గభస్తిమంతుడు". గర్భంలో పుష్కలంగా హిరణ్యం దాచుకున్న హిరణ్యగర్భుడు. ఇట్లా ఎన్నో పేర్లతో సార్థక నామధేయుడు సూర్యుడు.
బ్రహ్మ సృష్టికి మూలం. సమస్త జీవజాలానికి ఉదయ గుణం ఇచ్చేవాడు బ్రహ్మ. ఉదయం వివేకోదయానికి చిహ్నం. జ్ఞాన వివేచనలకు ఉదయకాలం బ్రహ్మ జ్ఞానంతో సమానమంటారు విజ్ఞులు. సకల లోకాలకు శుభాలు కూర్చేవాడు శంకరుడు మధ్యాహ్నకాలానికి ప్రతీక. జీవనదులకు, పంట పొలాలకు, మానవాళికి శక్తి ప్రదాత మార్తాండుడు. సాయంకాలం విష్ణురూపం. విష్ణువు సర్వ వ్యాపకుడు. సాయంకాలం విష్ణువులా జగత్తుకు తేజస్సును ఇచ్చే లోకబాంధవుడిగా సూర్యుణ్ని కొలుస్తాం. వేదాల్లో సూర్యదేవతాసూక్తం ఉంది. సూర్యుడు త్రిమూర్త్యాత్మకుడు.
