అర్జునుడి మునిమనవడైన నరేంద్రుడు, తప్పని పరిస్థితుల్లో ఋషిని హత్యచేసాడు. ఇందుకు ఎంతో పశ్చ్యాతాపపడ్డాడు. ఎలా అయిన "బ్రహ్మ" హత్యా దోషాన్ని పోగొట్టుకోవాలి అనుకున్నాడు. అన్ని ప్రాంతాలు సందర్శిస్తూ, అన్ని ఆలయాలలో పూజలు చేయ్యసాగాడు. కానీ, ఇంతని మనసులో ఉన్న అపరాధ భావం రవ్వంతైనా తగ్గలేదు. ఇదే క్రమంలో ఈనాడు కరీంనగర్ జిల్లా గా మనం అంటున్న ప్రాంతానికి చేరుకున్నాడు. కుంటంలో స్నానం చేస్తుండగా, నరేంద్రుడికి ఒక శివ లింగం లభించింది. ఆ లింగానికి ఎంతో భక్తీ శ్రద్ధలతో పూజలు చేసి, సాక్ష్యాత్తు ఆ భోళా శంకరుడి అనుగ్రహం పొంది, తన అపరాధ భావాన్ని తొలగించుకున్నాడు. ఈ శివ లింగాన్ని ప్రతీష్టించాడు. ఆ తరువాత, చాళుఖ్య రాజుల వారి పరిపాలనలో ఆలయం నిర్మించి, రాజరాజేశ్వరీ స్వామిగా నామకరణం చేసి, ఇంతటి మహిమగల దైవ స్వరూపానికి, మరింత పేరునీ తీసుకొచ్చారు.

ఈ ఆలయ ప్రాంగణంలో ఇంకో అద్భుతం మనకు కనిపిస్తుంది. నాకు తెలిసీ, బహుసా ఈ అద్భుతం, ఇంక ఏ ఆలయంలో ఉండదేమో. మతాలు వేరైనా, దైవం ఒక్కటే అని సాక్ష్యాత్తు ఆ స్వామే చెప్పాడు అన్నందుకు ఋజువుగా, స్వామి ఆలయం ఎదుటే కొలువయ్యి ఉన్న దర్గా. ఒకింత ఆశ్చర్యంగా, ఆ వెంటనే మనకు కనువిప్పు కలిగించేలా ఉంటుంది ఈ దృశ్యం.

సంతానం కావాలనుకునే వారి ఆశ నెరవేరేలా అనుగ్రహించే స్వామికి, ఆలయ ప్రాంగణం బయటే లభ్యం అయ్యే, మనకు అందుబాటు ధరల్లో ఉండే పువ్వుల - వెండి ఉయ్యాలలు, మన స్థితి మేరకు కొనుగోలు చేసి, మనల్ని అనుగ్రహించమని స్వామిని వేడుకుంటూ, వెండి ఉయ్యాల అయితే హుండీ లో వేసి, పువ్వుల ఉయ్యాల అయితే, గర్భగుడి ముఖ ద్వారం గుమ్మం పైన కట్టి, సంతానం కలిగితే, ఆ సంతానం ఎత్తు బెల్లం అయినా లేక మన స్థితి మేరకు కొనుగోలు చెయ్యగలిగే బెల్లం అయినా, ఆ ప్రాంగణంలోనే కొనుగోలు చేసి, దానం చేస్తాం అని మొక్కుకోవాలి. తప్పక ఆ స్వామి మన ఆశ నెరవేరుస్తాడు.

స్వామికి తల నీలాలు సమర్పించే ఆచారం కూడా ఉంది. అయితే, వంశపార్యంపర్యం గా, తిరుపతి వెంకన్న కు తలనీలాలు సమర్పించే ఆచారం మనదైతే, ఇదే విషయం వేములవాడ రాజరాజేశ్వర స్వామికి స్పష్టం గా చెప్పి రావాలి. లేదా, మూడు కత్తెరలైనా, రెండోసారి తల నీలాలు సమర్పిస్తామని అయినా, మనం మొక్కుకోవచ్చు.

Vemulawada Temple is one of the prominent Hindu temples dedicated to deity Shiva. Lord Shiva considered as one of the most prominent in the deities of the Hindu pantheon. Located in the Vemulavada town of Rajanna Siricilla district in Telangana State. Vemulavada is the town most famous for the pilgrimage of the worshippers for Sri Raja Rajeshwara Temple.

Vemulavada Temple History:
Raja Narendra Chola established the magnificent temple of Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Temple in 750-973 AD. Raja Narendra Chola is the great-grandson of Arjuna. Inscriptions on the temple say that Chalukyas ruled the region from 750-973 AD. Raja Narendra has found the sculpture of Lord Shiva in the Dharmagundam. He later installed the sculpture in the temple and has done penance near it. Lord Shiva was impressed by Narendra and relieved him from the curse of killing sage’s son.

One of the legends also says that the Raja Narendra who was suffering from leprosy, has taken a holy bath in the Dharmagundam water tank. He later cured of leprosy. Dharmagundam is the water tank in the temple premises, known for its medicinal properties. Pilgrims who visit the temple take the holy bath in the Dharmagundam and then visit Lord Shiva.

Rajanna is the famous name for Lord Shiva in Vemulavada. Accompanied by the idols Siddi Vinayaka and Goddess Sri Raja Rajeshwari Devi. It is believed that worshipping deity Sri Raja Rajeshwara can bring benevolence of wishes to be granted.
